In each of these case studies each location saved more than half on their energy bill because of TLC Integration
Both of these case studies were assessed and a full report was presented to them. This report included how much sun could be harvested during which hours of the building’s operations, recommendations on light replacement, and the total estimated amount of money that could be saved after the recommendations were implemented.
This school underwent a daylighting retrofit in order to apply for the NevadaSureBet Program. Once it was established that the natural day light could illuminate the school for more than half the day the school decided to remove 223 traditional fixtures and replace them with 67 daylighting fixtures. This daylight harvesting coupled with an integrated control system saved the school 78% annually on its energy costs. This figure was accepted by KEMA at the NevadaSureBet Program and used to establish the school’s subsequent cash back rate. This was the highest amount of money saved of both the case studies. This school is just one of a few buildings that is now saving 66% annually with its new daylight harvesting system. This school exchanged 92 traditional lighting fixtures for 67 daylighting units. They were placed throughout the library, gym, and various other areas of the school to take advantage of the 83%-97% of active daylight. It was found that this light could illuminate the school for more than half the day. Integrated control systems were connected to stage lighting to slowly increase the light inside as the daylight receded outside. This school was also accepted by the NevadaSureBet Program.
